The Warehouse

This is where all the magic happens. The current warehouse was purhcased in 1996 with the idea of creating a larger Multi-service Center. Foods such as canned vegetables, cereal, soups, and beans are dropped off to be sorted and packed by our many voltuneers. The building is also used to house the Community Food Bank’s programs and lease office space to other human service agencies. You'll be amazed at the size of our large industrial freezer!

When touring the warehouse it is important to obey the following rules:

  • Close-toed shoes must be worn at all times

  • Eating, drinking, and smoking are only permitted in designated areas

  • Hands must be washed before working with any food and gloves must also be worn

Community Food
Resource Center

Helping to develop a food secure community for healthy lives.  This center was established to pursue a comprehensive strategy to support people in sustainably providing healthy food for themselves, their families, or even their community.  This is done through:

  • Education - for all ages

  • Advocacy - increase awareness and access

  • Gardening - homes, schools, communities

These efforts attempt to bring us closer to closing the hunger gap.

We will start with a tour of the warehouse and history of the food bank, which takes about an hour. During your visit your group will get to see all of our 140,000 sq. ft. warehouse and our onsite garden and learn how the food bank got its start.

Nuestra Tierra Garden

The garden is located right outside of the warehouse and its purpose is to demonstrate to demonstrate viable food production. Highlights include:

  • What variety of vegetables can be grown and in what seasons they thrive

  • Water management, using drip irrigation

  • Greenhouse management and starting seeds

  • Raising hens for egg production

  • Composting

  • Other organic gardening practices

Some of the fruits and vegetables grown in the garden are sold at the farmer's market that the CFB hosts every Tuesday. The Market accepts cash, FMNP coupons, food stamps, and credit and debit cards.
